Community fundraising terms and conditions
These fundraising terms and conditions set out the conditions of fundraising for Lymphoma Australia. All individuals, organisations or groups who intend to raise funds for Lymphoma Australia must read and agree to these conditions in planning and running all fundraising activities.
Processing your application
Thank you for choosing to fundraise for Lymphoma Australia. Please allow two (2) business days for your application to be reviewed. Once approved, you will receive confirmation of your fundraiser and an Authority to Fundraise email.
On what basis are applications assessed?
We will approve applications where:
- We have sufficient written information.
- The activity aligns within our fundraising terms and conditions, and values.
- It does not involve unnecessary risk.
- It will provide a reasonable return.
Lymphoma Australia alignment
Lymphoma Australia is unable to support activities, companies, or organisations that we perceive to undermine our values. These include but are not limited to:
- Practices that use marketing techniques which contribute to inequality.
- Proceeds from the manufacture or sale of tobacco. Proceeds from gambling, such as casinos, corporate bookmakers, and state-based pari-mutuel organisations.
- Practices that abuse and/or endanger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Upon approval of your application, we will issue your “Authority to Fundraise” email and you can start organising your fundraiser.
Responsibilities and expectations
As a Community Fundraiser
The Community Fundraiser is the actual person, and/or organisation responsible for running the proposed event or activity and should not be a paid employee of Lymphoma Australia. It is important that the event or activity is recognised as being run to support Lymphoma Australia. The activity should not proceed until Lymphoma Australia has issued an ‘Authority to Fundraise’.
As outlined in our Privacy Policy, Lymphoma Australia is legally bound to only share details of the event or activity direct with the named Community Fundraiser on the Authority to Fundraise email.
What are the responsibilities of a Community Fundraiser?
The approved Community Fundraiser:
- Must not undertake any door to door, street sales or telephone-based approaches for donations to be made in connection with the activity.
- Is responsible for the coordination and management of the activities, associated licenses, required insurances, publicity, and communications with Lymphoma Australia and the community, procurement of prizes, services, volunteers, and personnel.
- Assumes full responsibility for managing the activity in an appropriate way and that the event is conducted and promoted in the Community Fundraiser’s name.
- Accepts and is responsible for all associated risks including minimising any risk associated with the fundraiser and is responsible for all safety issues relating to the event, volunteers, and personnel.
- Must disclose any prior or current criminal convictions for financial fraud before approval is awarded.
- Ensure children under the age of 18 collecting handling, or managing funds are under the supervision of a responsible adult over the age of 18.
Are there any financial and administrative responsibilities as a Community Fundraiser?
When you agree to become a Community Fundraiser, you agree to be responsible for the administration and all matters related to the staging or conduct of your activity. It will be your responsibility to:
- Seek the required permits relating to activities such as raffles, lotteries, auctions etc.
- Collect, hold all funds collected in a secure environment and reconcile the funds relating to any fundraising activities undertaken.
- Ensure that when counting funds, there are two people present.
- Record all expenses and income in a log for the event or activity.
- Aim to maintain costs at no more than 40% of the total income.
- Pay any invoices relating to your expenses and ensure that they are not to be addressed to Lymphoma Australia.
- Provide all funds to Lymphoma Australia within 14 days of the expiry of the ‘Authority to Fundraise.’
Legal responsibilities
- The event must comply with all relevant Australian Federal and State Laws.
- The Community Fundraiser is responsible for obtaining and maintaining any appropriate insurance for their fundraising event, including public liability insurance. Lymphoma Australia’s public liability insurance does not cover people who choose to fundraise on our behalf. We are not liable for assessing or managing any risks associated with the fundraising event you are organising.
- The Community Fundraiser must obtain all necessary and relevant licenses if required e.g., local council approvals to run the fundraising event.
- The Community Fundraiser must ensure the event is recognised as being run to support Lymphoma Australia and therefore properly account for all income/ expenses incurred as well as ensure all activities and actions are appropriate and do not bring any disrepute to Lymphoma Australia.
- The information you supply to Lymphoma Australia will also be provided to the relevant government agencies in your state upon request, should licenses be required.
- If a registered Community Fundraiser has not raised any funds in over a year, the fundraising authority will cease, and all promotion associated with the activity must be terminated.
- Lymphoma Australia accepts no responsibility for any loss, liability, or injury, occupational, health, safety and welfare claims arising from any fundraising event. It is the responsibility of the Community Fundraiser to ensure the safety of themselves and any attendees of their fundraising event, including providing first aid services if they are needed.
- You agree to release Lymphoma Australia to the fullest extent permitted under law from all claims and demands of any kind associated with the fundraising event and indemnify Lymphoma Australia for all liability or costs that may arise in respect to any damage, loss or injury occurring to any person in any way associated with the activity caused by your breach of these responsibilities or negligence.
- Lymphoma Australia reserves the right to withdraw your authority to organise a fundraising event at any time if it appears to Lymphoma Australia that the fundraising event may negatively affect the image or reputation of Lymphoma Australia or if Lymphoma Australia believes there’s a likelihood of you not meeting any of these terms and conditions.
- Registered Community Fundraisers must comply with the Lymphoma Australia Privacy Policy
- Lymphoma Australia may amend these Terms and Conditions at any time and upon amending them we will re-post them on our website. All registered Community Fundraisers will be bound by the amended Terms and Conditions from that time.
Working with Lymphoma Australia
Once your event or activity is confirmed, you will receive support from one of our Community Fundraising team in the form of tips and tools via email, SMS, and phone. We’ll also link you to assets for you to download to help make your fundraiser a success.
Please note that Lymphoma Australia cannot provide assistance with:
- Provision of any Lymphoma Australia related database for promotion or marketing purposes.
- Promotion of sales/events through any Lymphoma Australia social media channel.
- Prizes for your fundraising activities such as auctions, raffles, competitions etc.
- Applying for relevant permits, licenses or insurance cover related to your or any related third-party activities.
- Lymphoma Australia staff to run the events.
- Sale of tickets, products, or services as part of your initiative
- Reimbursement of event related expenses.
- Financial contributions to any event related promotional materials or equipment.
Is it OK to approach Lymphoma Australia supporters/partners for involvement in community fundraising activities?
No, Lymphoma Australia has many corporate partners and sponsors that support the foundation all year round. As these companies are already very generous supporters of the foundation and are approached frequently throughout the year, we ask that you do not approach these companies. These companies are listed on the Lymphoma Australia website.
How should I promote my association with Lymphoma Australia?
Please state “Proud Community Supporter of Lymphoma Australia.” It is important to be transparent and make it clear that you are conducting the fundraising activity and that your event is not run by Lymphoma Australia.
After the event
What should I do after my activity is finished?
- Email Lymphoma Australia at fundraise@lymphoma.org.au to let us know your event is complete.
- If the funds have not been deposited on your fundraising page, transfer all funds raised to the Lymphoma Australia bank account within 30 days of completing your activity.
- Contact fundraise@lymphoma.org.au to request Lymphoma Australia’s banking details and your constituent code to use as a reference.
Acknowledgement of your contribution
Only once funds are received can Lymphoma Australia issue an official thank you letter and/or receipt (if applicable) and acknowledgement of your contribution.
Tax deductible and non-tax-deductible receipts
The issuing of tax-deductible receipts is based on conditions outlined by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) In summary:
- Tax deductible receipts may be issued when donations are made on a purely voluntary basis with no conditions attached.
- Tax receipts are not issued when a payment results in the receipt of a good or service or the donation is not deemed to be unconditional e.g., recognition of sponsorship, as this is not classed as a donation or gift. This also relates to purchasing raffle tickets, entry fees or auction items and sponsorship.

Official Lymphoma Australia receipts
- Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
- You, as the Community Fundraiser, will receive a letter to acknowledge the funds raised. This is not a tax deductable receipt.
Consent to share images and messages
You, as the Community Fundraiser, give consent to Lymphoma Australia to use all photos, videos, quotes, and stories shared with Lymphoma Australia. It is your responsibility to ensure all persons in the photos have given their consent for their respective photographs to be provided to Lymphoma Australia for promotional purposes. You can withdraw your consent at any time by letting us know. Lymphoma Australia will contact the Community Fundraiser prior to using any photos for promotional purposes. Lymphoma Australia does not take any responsibility for or incur any liability if you have breached your obligations under any Federal or State Law, without limitation, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What follows is a list of terms and conditions for users setting up, managing and contributing to social fundraising pages on this website.
Users must:
Ensure that any content that is uploaded (including photographs) is not obscene, offensive, defamatory, racist or discriminatory to any group and does not breach any law or regulation or any intellectual property rights of a third party or any right or duty owed to a third party. (NB: copyright owner’s written permission from the owner must be obtained for any copyright protected material prior to it being used on this site)
Not use the site in any way that causes, or is likely to cause, any interruption, damage or any other impairment to the the site or access to the site
Not use the site to misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organisation
Not use the site to send spam email or junk email
Not use the site for any kind of competition or forwarding scheme
Not use the site for any criminal, negligent or unlawful purpose (including but not limited to defrauding others into releasing passwords, harmful or malicious destruction of data, injection of computer viruses, intentional invasion of privacy, password cracking or denial-of-service attacks)
Not attempt to modify, adapt, translate, sell, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any portion of the site or to bypass the network firewall
Not use any part of the site which you are not authorised to use or devise ways to circumvent security in order to access part of the site which you are not authorised to access. (This includes but is not limited to scanning networks with the intent to breach and/or evaluate security, whether or not the intrusion results in access.)

‘Host Your Own Event’ Disclaimer and Fundraising Agreement
Lymphoma Australia reserves its right to withdraw its approval for the fundraiser/event at any time if it appears there is a likelihood of the fundraiser failing to adhere to any of the above terms and conditions, and/or community fundraising guidelines. I further verify that I am in proper physical and mental condition to participate in the fundraiser and acknowledge that I am aware of the risks involved and voluntarily agree to assume those risks.
- I accept the terms and conditions of the fundraising guidelines. I agree to conduct my fundraiser/event in accordance with those terms and conditions and in a manner which upholds the integrity, professionalism and ethos of Lymphoma Australia.
- I have read and I agree to abide by the fundraising rules and guidelines of Lymphoma Australia and indemnify Lymphoma Australia from and against any claims for injuries or damage arising at or from the event/fundraiser that is the subject of this application.
